This 3 days Sports and Cultural Festival features the presentation of Traditional Tinoia Cultural Dance performances as well as volleyball and a darts competition. The event involves people from all over Nissan who engage in showcasing their tourism and cultural products that are readily available throughout the island.
The Siwai Cultural Show showcases the traditional and unique arts and crafts of the Siwai area as well as from all over the Autonomous Region of Bougainville. Cultural singing and dancing will be performed including traditional rituals unique to Bougainville.

This year’s theme: “Promoting Bougainville’s Products” highlights Bougainville’s finest chocolate and more cocoa products! Activities include demonstrations, seminars, displays, excursions, competitions, chocolate treats and fun activities for schools. Join cocoa farmers, cocoa SMEs and other agricultural farmers at this year’s Bougainville Chocolate Festival! “Discover Bougainville, Embrace Culture, Celebrate Diversity” at the Bougainville Mona Festival 2024! This year’s festival features more cultural performances, stall displays, arts and crafts exhibitions, contemporary music, Fashion Show, Theatre play and many more! Bougainville Mona Festival Theme Song Competition Eligibility: Registered Artist or a member of a registered band or group. Winning Prize K1,500.00, Music Video and a Live Performance during the official opening ceremony. Song submission ends 2nd August 2024. The South Bougainville Cultural Show will be on this year from the 13th to 15th August 2021 at the Panakei Mini Town Showground. This cultural show will feature traditional singing and dancing groups with performances of sacred cultural rituals. There will also be displays of arts and handicrafts, traditional artefacts and war relics. Also on exhibition will be a traditional ‘haus garamut’ with garamuts (wooden slit drums). This festival is a revival of the great traditional Mona (canoe) festival to celebrate the seafaring tradition of Bougainvilleans and also showcase rich cultural performances and traditional arts and crafts displays.
Celebration of Bougainville’s unique cultural singing and dancing, arts and crafts displays including bamboo bands, string bands, traditional dances, singing and dancing with bamboo flutes and pipes and more.
Bougainville cocoa is the single source for the prized Jasper & Myrtle's Nunu Chocolates and Paradise Food's Queen Emma Bougainville Chocolate. The Nunu Chocolate Black Opal won the 2017 Gold Medal at the Academy of Chocolate Awards in London while the Nunu Chocolate Twilight won the 2017 Gold Medal at the Australian Foods Awards.
This event brings together cocoa farmers, chocolatiers, industry representatives and government officials to network and discuss market access and share improved farming and processing techniques. This day is significantly marked with celebrations and festivities around Papua New Guinea. As around the nation Bougainville celebrates with a flag raising ceremony and festivities including cultural and contemporary dancing, choir singing, bamboo bands, live bands and string band music.
A memorial day dedicated to honouring soldiers who died during battles fought in Papua New Guinea including Bougainville in World War I and World War II.
